The Royal Thai Embassy in Dakar organized the 2nd Edition of the Thai Gastronomic and Cultural Festival in Dakar

          The Royal Thai Embassy in Dakar, in collaboration with the Radisson Blu Hotel Dakar, organized the 2nd Edition of the Thai Gastronomic and Cultural Festival in Dakar on 22 May – June 2014. Two Thai chefs as well as a Thai fruit carving specialist and a traditional Thai musician from Thailand were invited to Dakar especially for this Festival.

          The 2nd Edition of the Thai Gastronomic and Cultural Festival in Dakar was organized following the success of the first edition of the Festival in 2013. It is to magnify the good relations between Thailand and Senegal. Through this event, the Kingdom of Thailand wishes to strengthen the bonds of friendship and promote understanding and mutual appreciation between peoples of the two countries using gastronomy and culture as a unifying instruments.

          On 22 May 2014, a reception to launch the Festival was organized, which was attended by approximately 100 guests including members of the diplomatic corps and international organizations in Senegal, representatives of the Senegalese government and private sectors. During the Reception, Thai fruit juice and cocktail food, prepared by the Thai Chefs, was served and traditional Thai music was played to the guests. There was also a demonstration of Thai fruit craving and Papaya Salad as well as the display of food and drink products from Thailand. In addition, the prize of 500,000 FCFA was awarded to the winner of the Thailand-Senegal logo competition during the Reception.

          During 23 May – 1 June 2014, the Thai dinner buffet served to guests of the L’Avenue Restaurant, Radisson Blu Hotel included a variety of famous Thai dishes such as Massaman Curry, Tom Yum Goong, Chicken Satay and Pad Thai Noodles. It also featured the demonstration of Papaya Salad and Thai desserts as well as traditional Thai music. The Festival was very well received once again by the Senegalese public and the international community in Dakar, with the total number of almost 400 customers throughout the Festival.
