On 17 September 2026, H.E. Ms. Nipa Nirannoot, Ambassador of Thailand to Senegal, held a meeting with Dr. Nilsuwan Leelarasamee, Vice Chairman of the Federation of Thai Industries (FTI), together with representatives of FTI’s key industrial clusters, to exchange information on trade and investment opportunities and market expansion for Thai businesses in Senegal and West Africa.

The discussion covered a range of promising sectors, including automotive parts, machinery and medical equipment, rice and aquaculture, as well as food and beverages. Ambassador Nipa shared information on the potential of the Senegalese and West African markets, including opportunities and challenges for Thai businesses seeking to enter and expand their presence in the region.

The FTI representatives also shared their perspectives and expertise on infrastructure and logistics development, port connectivity and international transportation, the development of Suvarnabhumi Airport, climate change adaptation, and natural resource and environmental management. These areas offer potential for further knowledge exchange and cooperation between Thailand and countries in West Africa.

In addition, the FTI representatives introduced the FTI Business Matching Platform, an online platform that enables businesses to identify potential partners and arrange business meetings. The platform could facilitate opportunities for companies from Senegal and West Africa interested in building networks and exploring business partnerships with Thai private-sector counterparts.
