Chargé d'affaires a.i. of the Royal Thai Embassy in Dakar led a team to visit the Republic of The Gambia to discuss the upcoming 15th Islamic Summit Conference of The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC)
On 30 January - 1 February 2024, Ms. Pottanee Homjitt, Chargé d'affaires a.i. of the Royal Thai Embassy in Dakar, led a team to visit Banjul, The Republic of The Gambia to discuss the upcoming 15th Islamic Summit Conference of The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), scheduled between 4 - 5 May 2024.
The Charge d'affaires a.i. met with Mr. Yankuba Dibba, Chief Executive Officer of The Gambia OIC Secretariat for a briefing on the progress of preparations for hosting the OIC’s 15th Islamic Summit Conference and a facilities visit at The Sir Dawda Kairaba Jawara International Conference Center in Banjul, where the Summit will take place. Furthermore, the Charge d'affaires a.i. also met with Mrs. Ndey Alima Ceesay, Director of the Directorate of Middle East Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs International Cooperation and Gambians Abroad (MOFA Gambia), and Chairperson of the Protocol Committee of The Gambia OIC, together with Mr. Omar S.F. Suwa, Acting Director of the Protocol Division, MOFA Gambia, to discuss the logistics preparation in case a delegation from Thailand participates in the Summit.
Moreover, the Charge d'Affaires a.i. met with Mrs. Mariama Khan Jallow, Acting Director of the Directorate of Asian and Oceanic Affairs, MOFA Gambia, discussing ways to further promote bilateral relations between Thailand and The Gambia, particularly the development cooperation and mutual support in international organizations.
