On 23 February 2021, a delegation from Thailand International Cooperation Agency (TICA), led by Director-General Mrs. Ureerat Chareontoh, visited the Prostheses Foundation of HRH the Princess Mother in Chiang Mai, Thailand. The purpose of the visit is to review the progress of the training for three Senegalese technicians from the Foundation for the Disables and Handicapped Military (FIMM), who have participated in the ‘training the trainers’ course, along with technicians from Burundi.

This training is part of the ongoing cooperation between Thailand and Senegal on prosthesis. Since 2010, Thailand has provided the Prostheses Production Center at Military Hospital in Ouakam, Dakar, established by FIMM, with the latest technology, equipments, quality supplies and extensive trainings and technical support, with an aim to improve the living conditions of those in Senegal who need prosthesis.

As the only country in West Africa that works with Thailand's prosthesis production technology, it is hoped that the cooperation will help make Senegal (FIMM) to become the training center on prostheses in the region.

Coopération en cours entre le Sénégal et la Thaïlande sur le Centre de Production de Prothèses

Le 23 février 2021, une délégation de l’Agence Thaïlandaise de Coopération Internationale (TICA), conduite par la Directrice générale Mme Ureerat Chareontoh, a visité la Fondation des Prothèses de Son Altesse Royale la Princesse Mère à Chiang Mai, en Thaïlande. Le but de la visite Etait de de faire le point sur l’avancement de la formation de trois techniciens sénégalais de la Fondation des Infirmes et Mutilés Militaires (FIMM), qui ont participé à la « formation des formateurs », ainsi que des techniciens burundais.

Cette formation s’inscrit dans le cadre de la coopération en cours entre la Thaïlande et le Sénégal sur les prothèses. Depuis 2010, la Thaïlande fournit au Centre de Production de Prothèses de l’Hôpital militaire de Ouakam, Dakar, établi par la FIMM, les dernières technologies, équipements, fournitures de qualité, des formations et soutiens techniques approfondis. Ceci vise à améliorer les conditions de vie de ceux qui, au Sénégal, ont besoin de prothèses.

En tant que seul pays d’Afrique de l’Ouest à travailler avec la technologie de production de prothèses de la Thaïlande, nous espérons que la coopération contribuera à faire du Sénégal (FIMM) le centre de formation sur les prothèses dans la région.
