On July 1, 2021, the Royal Thai Embassy, Dakar organized the “Thai Food Made Easy” cooking class” at Lulu Cafe, Dakar, Senegal, which was the 2nd session of the cooking class series. In this event, the Embassy has engaged with chefs from famous hotels and restaurants in Dakar namely Pullman, Radisson Blu, Le Bazoff, Le Ngor Pieds dans L'Eau, Pizzeria Katia, La Pointe des Almadies and WARC. Also present were a reporter from Le Soleil Daily, and well-known influencers/bloggers, such as Chef Iba and Chef Corinne, who are passionate about cooking.
This cooking class was very well-received by all participants. They expressed interest in and admiration for Thai food, including Tom Yum Goong, Green Curry with Beef, Pad Thai with Shrimp, Papaya Salad, Thai Spring Rolls and Thai pancake rolls. The workshop also made them realize that the ingredients used for Thai food could be found locally in Senegal such as fish sauce, canned coconut milk. curry paste. Therefore, the Senegalese chefs intend to serve Thai food in their restaurants.
The event was also publicized online via Instagram of Chef Iba's (Les Ateliers de Iba with 50,000 followers), Chef Corinne (Les Ateliers Cuisine de Corinne with 32,000 followers) and Chef Clement (Lulu Café with 8,400 followers). This social media content via Instagram was a new platform for the Embassy to reach out to the wider Senegalese public.
