The Royal Thai Volunteers Activity to mark the auspicious occasion of His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn Phra Vajiraklaochaoyuhua’s Birthday Anniversary, 28 July 2023, at Talibou Dabo Center (CTD), a rehabilitation center for children with physical disabilities, in Grand Yoff, Dakar, Republic of Senegal
On 26 July 2023, to mark the auspicious occasion of His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn Phra Vajiraklaochaoyuhua’s Birthday Anniversary on 28 July 2023, the Royal Thai Embassy in Dakar organised the Royal Volunteers Activity at the Talibou Dabo Center (CTD), Grand Yoff, Dakar.
Ambassador Thippawan Supamitkitja, the Royal Thai Embassy’s staff, and Thai community in Dakar were warmly welcomed by Mr. Lassana Sidibé, Director of CTD, the executives, teachers, representatives of the parents' association, personnel from the prostheses center and CTD’s students. On this occasion, the Ambassador made a brief remark on the purpose of this activity. Then the Ambassador, together with the staff and the Thai community donated essential items such as Thai rice, milk powder, and sugar as requested to the Center. The Director expressed his gratitude on behalf of the Senegalese Minister of Public Health, the Center, and the students, for the support on necessary items from the Government of Thailand.
Moreover, Ambassador and the delegation visited the classrooms and the prostheses center for lower limb/ upper limb prosthesis production. Ambassador highlighted the development cooperation project on prosthesis and orthosis machines and related equipment donated by the Government of Thailand to the Prostheses and Orthoses Center of the Foundation for the Disabled and Handicapped Military (FIMM) and will discuss with FIMM on the possibility of transfer of knowledge and capacity building to support the CTD on producing sufficient high quality lower limb/ upper limb prosthesis for students with disabilities and the general public.
The CTD was established over 40 years ago as a rehabilitation center for children with physical disabilities, under the Ministry of Public Health of Senegal, located in Grand Yoff district, Dakar. There are currently 150 children in their care. Its main mission is to support economic and social integration for people with disabilities, particularly, children with mobility disabilities. Children at CTD are provided with the support for education, socialization, rehabilitation and pre-school care for students aged 6 - 16 who need special assistance. The Center also produces parts of lower limb/ upper limb prosthesis for students and the general public.
