Thai Corner Project

The Royal Thai Embassy has initiated the “Thai Corner” Project to disseminate information about Thailand to Senegalese students and young people, with an aim to foster a better understanding and greater knowledge about Thailand among the general public of Senegal.

To launch this project, the Royal Thai Embassy in Dakar donated 136 books aboutThailand to the central library of the Cheikh Anta Diop University (UCAD) in Dakar. On 11 June 2012, Mrs. Busaya Mathelin, Ambassador of Thailand to Senegal, presented the books, both in English and French, to Mrs. Mariétou Diongue DIOP, Director of UCAD’s Library. It is estimated that 36,000 students will benefit from these books which contain information aboutThai culture, history, tourism as well as agriculture.

In addition, on 13 June 2012, the Ambassador visited St. Louis to donate English and French books about Thailand to the main library of Gaston Berger University (UGB).

The Thai Corner project is part of the Embassy’s action plan to promote a better and accurate understanding of Thailand among the people of Senegal, which will help to enhance the people-to-people relations between the two countries.
