The Delegation of the Royal Thai Embassy in Dakar visited the Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT) Specialists Mobile Service to Conakry, Guinea

            On 26 August 2013, Mr. Anothai HOMJIT, Counselor, led the delegation of the Royal Thai Embassy in Dakar to visit the Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT) Specialists Mobile Services at Donka and Ignace Deen Hospitals in Conakry, Guinea. The Royal Thai Embassy in Dakar fully funded ENT specialists from Fann Hospital in Dakar to travel to Conakry and provide free medical services to Guinean people at the two hospitals during 24-31 August 2013.

            During the visit, the Thai delegation met with Directors of Donka and Ignace Deen Hospitals as well as the Chief of Cabinet of the Ministry of Health and Public Hygiene of the Republic of Guinea. The Guinean side has expressed its appreciation for Thailand’s initiative and support for the ENT Mobile Services as well as its wishes for the continued support of Thailand for this project in the future and to further strengthen South-South cooperation in the field of public health.

            Since 2005, the Royal Thai Embassy in Dakar has continually provided support for the ENT specialist mobile services in Senegal every year. In Guinea, there are only 6 ENT specialists for the population of over 11 million. In 2009, the Royal Thai Embassy supported the first ENT mobile services to Guinea, under the framework of south-south cooperation between Thailand-Senegal-Guinea. With a view to strengthen development cooperation in public health between Thailand and Guinea, the Royal Thai Embassy in Dakar has therefore also extended the ENT Mobile Services to Conakry this year, on the basis of the Memorandum of Understanding on Technical Cooperation between the Governments of Thailand and Guinea signed during the official visit to Thailand of H.E. Mr. Alpha CONDE, President of the Republic of Guinea in June 2012.
