On 27 September 2018, The Royal Thai Embassy handed over the newly renovated classroom to Le Phare de Ouakam School in Dakar. The Embassy’s Classroom Reconstruction Project aimed at promoting education and improve learning environment in Senegal. Senegal is facing inadequacy of proper educational facilities. Ouakam commune is one of the most densely populated in Dakar; therefore, Le Phare de Ouakam is under the reconstruction to accommodate the increasing number of students in the commune. Currently, there are approximately 500 students enrolled in the school.
The School Director extended his gratitude to the Royal Thai Government and named the classroom as “Thai Classroom” and will display Thailand’s map and pictures of tourist places in Thailand in the classroom which will give the students the knowledge about Thailand. The project has strengthened the existing ties between Thailand and Senegal and their peoples.
