On 22 September 2021, Ambassador Nipon Petchpornprapas, Mr. Jirajett Wongnorraset, Counsellor, and Ms. Aimatcha Somsaman, Second Secretary, made a field trip to Ziguinchor to visit Hopital de la Paix de Ziguinchor, which Thailand has cooperation in public health, as well as to build friendly relations with the local leaders in Ziguinchor.
Since 2017, Thailand has provided support for Hopital de la Paix de Ziguinchor to carry out the Mobile Medical Service Project (Ear Nose and Throat care), where more than 5,000 patients were treated and more than 400 surgical procedures were performed. The patients who received these services came not only from Ziguinchor and the regions nearby like Kolda and Sedhiou but also from the neighboring countries, which are The Gambia, Guinea Bissau and Guinea.
Ambassador Nipon took this opportunity to meet with Mr. Guedj DIOUF, Governor of Ziguinchor and Mr. Abdoulaye BALDE, Mayor of Ziguinchor, who is also the Member of Parliament, in order to discuss potential areas of cooperation such as agriculture and tourism between the Royal Thai Embassy and Ziguinchor.
