The Project on “A study visit on the dried fruit production technologies in Thailand”
On 17-26 April 2015, the Royal Thai Embassy in Dakar, Senegal, organized a study visit for Senegalese experts from Institute de Technologie Alimentaire (ITA), Fonds National de Development Agro-Sylvo-Pastoral (FNDASP) and entrepreneurs to Thailand. The aim of the visit is to study the technologies on dried fruit production aiming at enhancing technical cooperation and knowledge transferred including expanding the network of expert in the field of Fruit Processing between Thai and Senegal.
The following activities had been arranged:
1. visited the Royal Chitralada Projects;
2. a courtesy call on Mr. Sasiwat Wongsinsawat Deputy Director-General, Department of South
Asian, Middle East and African Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand;
3. visited Department of Physics, Faculty of Science, Silpakorn University to study the Prototype
of Drying Solar Dome; and
4. field visit which was facilitated by Silpakorn University, the experts had met and discussed with
key public and private stakeholders on dried fruit in Samut Sakhon and Phitsanulok Province as:
4.1 Don Tum community entreprse on dries tomatoes;
4.2 Jiraporn Food Company and Banana Society on dries banana,
4.3 Vejpong Pharmacy and Bangkratum Hospital on dried herbs.
The activities were well attended by the Senegalese experts especially the technology on Parabola Solar Dome that will be further studied and developed in Senegal. After the visit, both sides will further explore the possibilities of cooperation to transfer knowledge and technology in the field of fruit processing and agricultural products to help Senegal attain the Government‘aims on Food Security.
