Thai Gastronomic and Cultural Week in Abidjan, Côte d'Ivoire.

 

On 23 – 29 April 2015, The Royal Thai Embassy in Dakar organized the Thai Gastronomic and Cultural Week in Abidjan, Côte d'Ivoire. Three renown Thai chefs were invited to take part in this week. Through this event, the Kingdom of Thailand wishes to strengthen the relationship and to promote Thai gastronomy and Thai culture in Côte d'Ivoire.

 

1.   A Reception launching the Week was organized on 23 April 2015. H.E. Mr. Maurice Kouakou BANDAMAN, Minister of Culture and Francophonie, representing the Government of Côte d’Ivoire,  was the guest of honour at the event including members of the diplomatic corps and international organizations in Côte d'Ivoire. Also attended were representatives of the government, private sectors and distinguished guests approximately 200. Thai cooking demonstrated by the Thai Chefs, was served during the Reception. There was also a demonstration of the Thai art of fruit craving during the Reception.

 

2.   A week of Thai Gastronomic and Cultural Dinner was organized during 24 – 29 April 2015 at the Siam-Thai Restaurant, the only Thai Restaurant in Côte d’Ivoire, serving specialities and varieties of famous Thai dishes. Demonstration of the Thai art of fruit craving throughout the Week was highly admired by the public.

 

The event was very well received by the public and the international community in Côte d'Ivoire who wished that such cultural event would be continuously organized in Côte d’Ivoire. This Thai Gastronomic and Cultural Week is one of the Cultural Diplomacies magnifying good relations between Thailand and Côte d'Ivoire.
