On 6 October 2026, H.E. Ms. Nipa NIRANNOOT, Ambassador-Designate of Thailand to Senegal, attended the opening ceremony of the Salon International de l’Aquaculture, an international aquaculture exhibition organised by Senegal’s National Aquaculture Agency (ANA). Nong Bua Feed Mill, a Thai company, also participated in the exhibition to showcase its products and services.

On this occasion, the Ambassador hosted a meeting at the Ambassador’s Residence with Mr. Samba KA, Director General of the National Aquaculture Agency; Mr. Saïd MEMENE, President of Senegalese company Atlantic Mariculture; and Ms. Premjit Srisupphapatpong, a representative of Nong Bua Feed Mill. The meeting focused on exploring opportunities for joint investment between Thai and Senegalese private sector partners in freshwater fisheries and aquaculture. This initiative builds on the Embassy’s recent cooperation programme, under which ANA representatives visited Thailand from 31 August to 16 September 2026 for practical training in the breeding, nursing and farming of tilapia and catfish.

The Ambassador highlighted the successful implementation of the training programme and expressed her satisfaction with the growing cooperation between Thailand and Senegal in fisheries, agriculture and freshwater aquaculture. She emphasised the potential to expand collaboration in trade, investment, development, education and knowledge exchange. In particular, strengthening the capacity of Senegalese personnel to apply and disseminate the knowledge acquired would help create livelihoods and generate income for local aquaculture farmers and fisheries entrepreneurs. Such cooperation would also contribute to food security in Senegal and West Africa, while supporting global supply chains. The Ambassador further highlighted opportunities for collaboration in aquaculture breeding research and development between Kasetsart University of Thailand and Senegal’s Université du Sine Saloum.

Mr. Samba KA commended Thailand’s expertise in fisheries and agriculture, as well as the Embassy’s strong commitment to advancing bilateral fisheries cooperation. He expressed confidence that these initiatives would bring significant benefits to the Senegalese people, particularly by strengthening livelihood opportunities and food security. He also reaffirmed ANA’s readiness to support the Embassy’s activities and projects and welcomed future cooperation with Kasetsart University and Thai private sector partners.
