On 25 June 2026, H.E. Ms. Nipa Nirannoot, Ambassador-designate of the Kingdom of Thailand to the Republic of Senegal, gave an interview to Mr. Yatma Lô, television host from Radiodiffusion Télévision Sénégalaise (RTS), Senegal's national public broadcasting organisation, together with Mr. Papa Abdou Karim DIOP, President of the Muay Thai Association of Senegal. The interview took place at the Residence of the Ambassador and was a part of the publicity campaign for the Senegal National Muay Thai Championship 2026, the first-ever national Muay Thai championship to be held in Senegal. The competition will take place on 27–28 June 2026 in Bargny.

During the interview, the Ambassador reaffirmed the Royal Thai Embassy's commitment to implementing its 2026–2027 Muay Thai Promotion Plan in Senegal. The plan focuses on introducing Muay Thai training activities for children and women during the Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games, organising a Muay Thai Convention bringing together all 17 Muay Thai clubs in Senegal, and holding Muay Thai demonstrations at landmarks throughout Dakar. The Muay Thai Association of Senegal expressed its full support for these initiatives.

The Ambassador also expressed her appreciation that Mr. Lô had a strong interest in Thai culture. The interview provided an opportunity to introduce various aspects of Thailand, including the Thai greeting (wai), Thai cuisine, Thai textiles, and Muay Thai. Recognising that sports and physical fitness are highly valued among the Senegalese people, the Ambassador emphasised that Muay Thai is not only Thailand's national cultural heritage and martial art but also serves as a bridge between the peoples of Thailand and Senegal, helping to further strengthen friendship and mutual understanding between the two countries.

Radiodiffusion Télévision Sénégalaise (RTS) is Senegal's national public broadcasting organisation with a history spanning more than 50 years. As one of the country's most influential media institutions, RTS plays a vital role in disseminating information on national affairs, politics, culture, and sports through television, radio, and digital platforms, reaching audiences across Senegal.
