On Sunday 9 May 2021, the Royal Thai Embassy in Dakar organised a special Muay Thai training course at the Olympique Club, Dakar, through the ‘Zoom’ teleconference system, under the instruction from Master Boo, a famous Muay Thai boxer from Saengathit Gym in Thailand. The event was livestreamed on Facebook to reach a wider audience, who can also practise along at home.

Around 25 Senegalese, and some expats in Senegal, joined the 2-hour special training, which is aimed at familiarising participants with some basic, yet essential, moves of Muay Thai. Embassy staff also took part in the training.

This special event is part of the Royal Thai Embassy's project to promote bilateral relations and cultural exchanges between Senegal and Thailand through Muay Thai, which is Thailand’s national sport and martial arts. The training was organised twice: one from 30 April - 3 May 2021 at Djiko Budo Club, Rufisque, and the second time on 9 May 2021 at Club Olympique of Dakar. It has gained a lot of coverage from the Senegalese media, such as Le Soliel, 'Senesport' website and Radio Télévision Sénégalaise (RTS), Télévision Futurs Médias (TFM) and 2STV.
