During the 27th to 29th of June 2010, The Royal Thai Embassy in Dakar received a delegation from Thailands International Cooperation Agency (TICA) and the Thai Higher Education Institutions on their visit to Senegal with Dr. Kanok Wongtragnan, advisor to the Prime Minister, as the delegation advisor. The purpose of visit was to tighten the relationship between Thai higher education institutions and those of Senegal. The Thai delegation consisted of esteemed educators from leading Thai universities such as Prince of Songkla University, Burapha University, Khon Kaen University, Kasetsart University, Chulalongkorn University, Assumption University, and Mahidol University
In this visit, the delegation met high ranking officers from Senegals Ministry of Higher Education as well as the rector and departmental heads from the University Cheik Anta Diop de Dakar which is the largest university in Senegal and a renowned one in the region of western Africa. Broad and substantial discussions were conducted between the Thai delegation and Senegalese educators in the subject of education and research development for the development of national economy. Additionally, the Thai delegation presented the students of University of Cheik Anta Diop with various curricula available from Thai Universities, with enthusiastic responses from the students.
Also in this occasion, Ms. Kanya Chaiman, Thai Ambassador to Senegal, together with Dr. Kanok Wongtragnan, and Mr. Manoth Suksabjarern, Director of Thai Cooperation Branch II, TICA, paid a courtesy call on Mr. Amadou Tidiane BA, Minister of Higher Education and Research of Senegal to inform of the delegations objectives of visit as well as gesturing further cooperation in the area of higher education and research between the two countries.
In respect to the subject of education, The above visit supports the exchange of views between Thai and Senegalese leading Institutions, as well as further developing the relationship between the two countries in such area.
